JMU's Barnett III, Navy's Ramos pace Week 4 National Players of the Week

The National College Football Awards association is proud to present its national players of the week from 13 of its member awards for the weekend of Sept. 21.

This marks the second season the NCFAA has streamlined the process to release each of these weekly honors each week. Going forward, NCFAA players of the week will be announced each Tuesday at Noon ET through the remainder of the regular season.

In all, 15 total players are honored this week led by James Madison QB Alonza Barnett III and Navy LB Colin Ramos.

Following are the NCFAA National Players of the Week:

  • Bednarik Award (Defensive Player): Josaiah Stewart, Michigan (Edge)
  • Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Defensive Player): Colin Ramos, Navy (LB)
  • Burlsworth Trophy (Walk-On): Sean Atkins, South Florida (WR); Kyle Thornton, Washington State (LB)
  • Davey O’Brien Award (Quarterback): Alonza Barnett III, James Madison; Blake Horvath, Navy
  • Doak Walker Award (Running Back): Kaleb Johnson, Iowa
  • John Mackey Award (Tight End): Harold Fannin, Bowling Green
  • Lou Groza Award (Kicker): Emmet Kenny, Stanford; Seth Morgan, Tulsa; Collin Rogers, SMU
  • Maxwell Award (Overall Player): Blake Horvath, Navy (QB)
  • Outland Trophy (Interior Lineman): Will Campbell, LSU (OT)
  • Paul Hornung Award (All-Purpose Player): Travis Hunter, Colorado (WR/CB)
  • Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (Defensive Back): Jermod McCoy, Tennessee (CB)
  • Ray Guy Award (Punter): Rhys Dakin, Iowa
  • Walter Camp Award (Overall Player): Offensive: Alonza Barnett III, James Madison (QB); Defensive: Colin Ramos, Navy (LB)

Founded in 1997, the National College Football Awards Association includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935. This season, 13 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
