Vanderbilt trio highlights Week 6 National Players of the Week

The National College Football Awards association is proud to present its national players of the week from 13 of its member awards for the weekend of Oct. 5.

This marks the second season the NCFAA has streamlined the process to release each of these weekly honors each week. Going forward, NCFAA players of the week will be announced each Tuesday at Noon ET through the remainder of the regular season.

In all, 13 total players are honored this week led by three Vanderbilt offensive stars.

Following are the NCFAA National Players of the Week:

  • Bednarik Award (Defensive Player): Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech (LB)
  • Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Defensive Player): Fadil Diggs, Syracuse (DE)
  • Burlsworth Trophy (Walk-On): Quentin Skinner, Kansas (WR)
  • Davey O’Brien Award (Quarterback): Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
  • Doak Walker Award (Running Back): Ashton Jeanty, Boise State
  • John Mackey Award (Tight End): Eli Stowers, Vanderbilt
  • Maxwell Award (Overall Player): Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt (QB)
  • Outland Trophy (Interior Lineman): Gunnar Hansen, Vanderbilt (OT)
  • Paul Hornung Award (All-Purpose Player): Eli Heidenreich, Navy (RB)
  • Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (Defensive Back): A.J. Haulcey, Houston (FS)
  • Ray Guy Award (Punter): Jeremy Crawshaw, Florida
  • Walter Camp Award (Overall Player): Offensive: Eli Holstein, Pitt (QB); Defensive: Cameron Whitfield, Louisiana (LB)

Founded in 1997, the National College Football Awards Association includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935. This season, 13 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
